As public service workers, AFSCME members are accountable to our communities every day. People rely on us to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and thriving, and we answer the call, 24-7. So we expect our leaders in Congress to have at least the same accountability to our communities as we do.
For the next couple of weeks, we’ll have an opportunity to talk directly to our members of Congress as they return home for the Congressional recess and host events in their districts.

From a stalled health care bill that would have left 24 million Americans uninsured, to the president’s budget proposal that guts vital public services, to the Senate’s unprecedented confirmation of a Supreme Court justice who believes corporations are people — the issues at hand today will affect our lives, our families, and our communities. That’s why Congress needs to hear from you.
