Dear FWA Members, Sponsors and Supporters,
As Summer nears its final weeks, we start to look to Fall and in the “back-to-school” spirit, it can be a good time to think about personal development.
I am proud to announce that next month, we will be launching two new pilot programs - for FWA members only and free of charge - designed to help enhance your abilities, and take steps to reach your professional goals and personal dreams!
First, we hope you will participate in the 2017 Member2Member Mentoring Pilot Program. Over the past decade, Mentoring has become one of the fastest-growing career coaching platforms. The FWA Pacesetter, Back2Business, high school and college mentoring programs have succeeded in accelerating the career trajectories for graduates and professionals – and we want to bring the benefits of mentoring to our Membership.
For a Mentor, this is a great opportunity to be recognized, give back, and feel the pride and satisfaction of knowing that your experience and success is helping an FWA Member. For a Mentee, this is a great opportunity to partner with a Mentor to help identify your abilities and growth areas, and build leadership skills.

Secondly, we hope you will join our Professional Development Workshops. These engaging, interactive sessions will be held monthly. They will be facilitated by a highly-respected professional coach and will cover a wide variety of useful topics.
Our first series of three workshops will be morning sessions, with a casual BYOB (bring your own breakfast!) format, led by the ever-inspiring Jim Arnoff. The first workshop, entitled, “Power Networking, Power Pitching …. The Dynamic Duo!,” will help you master how to pitch yourself and your ideas to others.

In light of our new Mentoring and Professional Development programs, this month’s quote provides good advice on how to approach learning. The source may be surprising but as a Black Belt in Karate, I find it inspiring and want to share it with you.

Since my Message to you last month, I have had the privilege of attending several remarkable FWA events. For example, I attended the closing program for the Wall Street Exchange Program, and want to thank Marline Alexander for all her work with this program over the years, and BNP Paribas for hosting the event.

As Fall approaches, the FWA calendar springs into full gear. We have many upcoming events listed for September, including our Fall Kickoff event at Le Cirque and several other NYC and regional events - hope to see you there!
